Have you ever made an altar? Before anyone sits with the medicine, I ask them to build an altar.

Not as decoration but as a living prayer.

It holds the intention they’re bringing into the ceremony, but really, it’s an intention for their life.

Some bring their own objects. Something that represents abundance, or joy, or peace, or love. Whatever it may be that they’re wanting to call more of into their life ❤️

Others choose from the pieces I bring, like the ones you see here in some of the photos.

What always moves me is watching someone choose. What they reach for, what they leave behind, how long they hold something before they place it down. The altar starts speaking before the medicine ever does.

And you don’t need a ceremony to do this.

I often build an altar on a small table or even inside my wardrobe closet. I have built alters for the Moon. I’ve built alters for wealth. I have built alters for Love that one worked out pretty well and you can put pieces of poetry, crystals, coins stones, love, hearts, all kinds of things in or things that represent it. Beans 🫘 & corn 🌽 for abundance and cacao, which represents love or the heart chakra.

If you were to build an altar for your life right now, what would you place on it? What are you calling in? __________.

I would love to hear. kx

She’s in her mid seventies, and tomorrow she’s sitting with the medicine to heal her childhood.

I’m holding space for her in a psilocybin ceremony, and honestly, it humbles me.

This work is not easy for anyone. Choosing to meet your edges like this takes real courage. And to see someone at this stage of life still choosing to heal, still wanting to live her fullest life, still willing to step into something new, that blows me away.

We have had many pre-sessions, and my heart is so full knowing what she is working through and ready for.

The day before a ceremony, I slow right down. I spend time alone and in nature. I set the space, prepare the objects, clear my own energy, check my boundaries, and ground myself fully.

I don’t take it lightly when someone trusts me with this. It’s an honor.

And every time, I feel it. The nervous energy, mine and theirs. The anticipation. The wonder of what will come.

But what I know is this. On the other side there is always beauty. Always something that needs to be felt, seen, and sometimes integrated slowly over the months that follow.

So I’ll ask you. What have you quietly decided it’s too late for? Too late to heal, to change, to want more?

Because she’s showing me, it’s never too late to come home to yourself.

I promise you it’s worth it.

I LOVE IN PERSON SESSIONS!!!! Last week I had the pleasure of working with a client who is a therapist in San Miguel De Allende and what a treasure she is, such a gifted soul. I loved getting to know her and here is what she shared about the experience, I facilitated a guided regression and breath work session with her, a 2 hour process.

Here are some of her words...

“What made my experience especially meaningful was the way she incorporated magical music, meditation, ancestral chants, and beautiful pre-Hispanic instruments into the session. Everything felt thoughtfully held and deeply connected to the sacred traditions behind the experience.

Most importantly, I felt heard, seen, respected, and genuinely cared for throughout the entire session. There was a beautiful sense of safety and presence that allowed me to simply surrender to the experience.

If you are looking for someone who combines professionalism, knowledge, sensitivity, and a deeply spiritual approach to energetic work, I highly recommend Kristy Akaal and the beautiful work she offers.

From the moment I arrived, I could feel her professionalism, deep knowledge, and genuine care. Kristy has extensive experience working with energy and different forms of energetic cleansing, and she creates a truly sacred and intentional space for the work.

We don’t look back at the past to dwell. We look back to free our present life from old survival patterns.

I used to think looking back meant staying stuck there.

Then I understood the difference. Dwelling keeps you in the story. Looking back to see the pattern is what actually lets you put it down.

I spent years reacting to things that had nothing to do with the moment I was in. A tone of voice. A silence at the dinner table. My body was still bracing for something that happened decades ago.

The past isn’t the enemy. Not looking at it clearly is.

Ever avoided inner work as your terrified of the the can of worms it may open? We don’t avoid doing inner work because we are lazy; many avoid it because their body thinks looking backward will trigger a total system collapse.

You don’t need to dive into the deep end of your past on day one. Healing isn’t about letting a tsunami hit your life, it’s about building the nervous system capacity to hold small drops of truth without shutting down.

When you start thinking about looking inward, does it feel like a manageable trickle or an overwhelming flood right now?

COUPLES COACHING & RETREATS....is this something y

COUPLES COACHING & RETREATS....is this something you want to work together on...often a client starts individually working with me and sometimes I will then work with them and their partner, sister, children. Its a beautiful evolution of the work we do. Here is what one client shared... after working together on zoom and then in Mexico in person.

“I’ve been holding off on sending this as I have been wanting to make sure my words are perfect because the experience was so amazing, I wanted to make sure my words were too….but you know what, I’ve realised that putting into words the incredibleness of the retreat is going to be impossible, because it was just so fucking ground breaking, life changing, beyond what I imagined or could have dream´t about, that words will do it no justice!

Having said that, I know that won’t help get your message out there, and it truly needs to be out there 😊, so I have given it my best….I hope this lands in front of all those beautiful souls that are seeking your medicine woman gifts 😉

Life is always changing, I get that, but this experience, the multitude of ‘ah-ha’ and ‘oh fuck’ and ‘what the fuck’ moments just continued throughout the week, and to be honest, they are still coming (not to the same intensity but they keep rolling in).

My life is on a new path, the shifts and changes within me are showing up all around me. The challenges that I used to feel stuck on, seem to be moving aside without much resistance, and I feel like I am moving through my days with more ease. The number of times I pushed through my fear in that week, are a constant reminder to me to continue to connect with my inner warrior 😊. I can do this, be this, create this, have all of this….joy, joy and more joy 😊

You made the retreat so personalised for me, and for my relationship, it was just the greatest gift I’ve given myself and my marriage….and it was your gifts, your commitment to your amazing talents that allowed this to be gifted to me…thankyou, thankyou, thankyou 😊

“The truth will piss you off, but first it will set you free.” — Gloria Steinem

Thank you, Gloria. For all you did and taught us, this famous quote was the working title for my next book for a time...

There comes a point where the truth becomes impossible to unsee.

The truth about what happened.
The truth about what you’ve tolerated.
The truth about where you’ve betrayed yourself to be loved, accepted, safe, or understood.

And honestly?

It can piss you off.

Because awakening isn’t always peaceful.

Sometimes it’s rage.
Sometimes it’s grief.
Sometimes it’s looking at your life and realizing just how much of yourself you learned to silence.

Because healing can be about coming home to the parts of you that had to disappear in order for you to survive.

And freedom isn’t always some huge, dramatic breakthrough.

Sometimes it’s simply saying no.

Leaving.

Speaking the truth.

Trusting your body.

Letting someone misunderstand you.

Choosing yourself without needing everyone else to agree.

The truth might piss you off.

But if you’re willing to stay with it, it can also lead you all the way back to yourself.

And that, to me, is where the real freedom begins.

Thanks Gloria for showing the way as the truth teller. RIP.

Do you have a favorite lesson from Gloria? Or have you experienced the truth setting your free but also pissing you off?

EXCRUTIATING GRACE...I went to a writers group yes

EXCRUTIATING GRACE...I went to a writers group yesterday with a beautiful group of women sharing vulnerable stories, and the idea was that you were given a prompt. Our prompt was Excruciating Grace. And for ten minutes, we were to write in free flow. on this topic.

This is what I wrote on excruciating grace.

The first thing I think of is the excruciating trauma of being cracked open. Your psyche and everything you knew to be true, shape shifting. Your world turning to rubble, and on one hand, through the rear vision mirror some ten years later, one part would say ALL of it was beyond excrutiating.

Yet another part of me, the one who sits here today, the one writing, she would say it was ALL grace. The new me, who I found under the rubble. The one who climbed her way out, the one who lived through an initiation, and ego death, whose identity collapsed over and over and over again. The one who was in an apprenticeship. The one who came home to herself. Who discovered a power and truth in her, loves her life today. She gets to know grace because of the journey she went on. A journey deep within a place most people fear. A place many are too terrified to ever face. And for that, I’m grateful!

Are there days that I don’t feel that way... Yes. Days I’m triggered into the past? Days it feels fresh. Days I feel the excruciating trauma and terror and fears coming back to visit, as if they never left... so close, I feel them breathing on the back of my neck. Yes. But I don’t fear them swallowing me whole like I used to…
